Founded In 2003
Safe Families for Children began in 2003 when a pastor in Chicago saw too many children entering foster care simply because their parents lacked support during hard times. What started as one church’s effort to show Christ’s love through hospitality grew into a nationwide movement. In Northeast Wisconsin, families share stories of hope and restoration—parents who once faced isolation now have a community to lean on, and children who might have entered foster care instead stayed safe and connected within loving volunteer homes.

Led by: Nicole Zorn
Safe Families for Children — Northeast Wisconsin is a faith-motivated movement dedicated to supporting families in crisis and preventing unnecessary foster placements. We surround parents facing overwhelming circumstances with a circle of caring volunteers who provide practical help, encouragement, and temporary care for children when needed. Families maintain custody of their children, and our goal is always reunification and stability. By partnering with churches, community groups, and volunteers, we offer a network of support that strengthens families and keeps children safe.
Safe Families for Children Mission Statement
Safe Families for Children seeks to keep children safe and families together. Safe Families for Children is rooted in faith, fueled by radical hospitality, disruptive generosity, and intentional compassion, to build a network of caring and compassionate volunteers to support families facing social isolation.
